The deeper you go into the forest the less the light penetrates until somewhere in its depths there is no distinction between night and day. The canopy blocks out the light. The growth is dense enough to limit any open spaces, and beware of what might be lurking in the shadows. Bioluminescent fungi clinging trees gives of the unsettling feeling of eyes glowing in the dark, watching you. Luckily they're just mushrooms. Wait, did that one just blink?
